Original natural latex soles – rare, precious
and desirable

The Hevea milk (Lactae Hevea = natural latex) is harvested directly from the tree and then turned into a BÄR natural latex sole. Each individual BÄR natural latex sole is cast by hand; it then matures in a water bath for seven days. As is the case with champagne, the soles are turned manually every day so that they mature evenly. A maximum of 13 pairs of soles can be manufactured per day and mould. Lots of experience and skilled craftsmanship are necessary for the up to 20 individual working steps involved in manufacture.

Natural latex is the only material in the world that combines lightness, perfect cushioning and optimum flexibility. No other (synthetically manufactured) material combines all these characteristics. The large number of air cushions which form during the maturing process act as a natural shock absorber and absorb up to 70% of the impact when your foot touches the floor.

Poron soles – high-tech cushioning from space research

„Viel zu teuer,“ “Much too expensive,” said the competition and turned our offer down when we discovered the high-tech material Poron at a manufacturer’s. Poron is an ultra-elastic cushioning foam that does not tire. A sensation! Just like sand, Poron makes an individual footbed with every step you take that immediately regains its form when the pressure is taken back off. In the process, it absorbs up to 80% more impact energy than other shock-absorbing materials. NASA used it to cushion spacesuits; at BÄR, we used it to develop the Poron footbed that is seen by experts as pioneering.
