BÄR Philosophy
We want things to go well for you!
The history of BÄR shoes... how suffering became a passion.

It all started with aching feet!
One Friday, 30 years ago, Mr Bär dropped into his armchair at home and made a statement that was to change his life: “If nobody can sell me shoes that will help me survive the day without my feet hurting, then I’m going to have to make the shoes myself.”
People soon realised he wasn't kidding
His wife, and everyone else that heard about his decision for the first time, smiled. A lot has changed since then. There is such a thing as a BÄR shoe, and not only Mr Bär’s feet but millions of other feet have stopped hurting. One thing has not changed – the smile. But today, it is the BÄR customers who are smiling. They smile when they slip their feet into BÄR shoes. Whether it is the first pair of BÄR shoes or a subsequent pair. A BÄR customer can count on good German, and particularly good Swabian, virtues – on reliability, precision and quality right down to the very last detail.
The perfect shoe – a lifelong task
The feet of Mr and Mrs BÄR are the standard, as they always have been, when it comes to making new BÄR models. But today they are no longer alone in their pursuit of BÄR quality. Today, the whole family is involved, and they are helped by a team of professional ultra athletes, shoemakers and lots of other specialists. If you come across the name BÄR in Germany, whether on one of the 18 BÄR Shops, on the Internet, in catalogues or on shoes, you can rely on everything having been done to ensure things will go well for you.
