The vein pump

Healthy veins thanks to natural-style walking
It is not a well-known fact that the muscles in your lower leg are very important for veins to function normally. Every movement of a muscle results in a pump mechanism that pumps the blood in your veins back towards the heart. Providing they work normally, the flaps in the veins of the skin and muscle prevent the blood from flowing back down.
The mechanical pump function is, however, only effective if the natural roll of the foot in the ankle is complete, i.e. when a roll angle of at least 45° to the lower leg is attained. Only then can the muscles in the lower leg create strong pump pressure. Free movement of the ankle is therefore indispensable!
To ensure this movement, you should wear shoes that limit the entire toe/front area as little as possible in terms of their mobility and allow the foot to roll naturally over the heel.
We have examined the concepts of everyday shoes available on the market and, from our own experience, can recommend BÄR shoes without any reservations. BÄR shoes provide the toe/front foot area with plenty of room so that the front foot can push off the ground when walking whilst enjoying extra cushion-ing. The roll of the heel is only effectively possible with the zero heel concept.
BÄR shoes are thus extremely supportive of the physiologically necessary muscle/vein pump in the lower leg. This means they have both a prophylactic effect – any weakening of the veins is delayed – as well as a supportive therapeutic effect for people with chronic vein weakness or lymph channel blockages as well as for people with varicose veins. We therefore advise our patients to wear BÄR shoes.
